The grow of mold in cannabis: avoidance and precautions

Posted on Jul 13 , 2020

For cannabis growers, mold on cannabis plants is very troublesome, and some precautions must be taken when planting. Moldy leaves or flowers can grow quickly, the mulch spreads, and eventually, the entire harvest is bucket grass, whether you use it with hemp or hemp to make. But at the same time, it is not easy to immediately identify all the modified molds! Trained eyes will notice this, but we must look at the different types of intrusion in the overview. Because we can easily identify mold on apples or peaches, we must also learn this knowledge through cannabis-this helps ensure the cannabis harvest and protects ourselves from mold spores, which are not always harmless.

What are the molds in cannabis?

Intrusion does not always look the same, has a different consistency, and then eventually uses different methods to deal with it. Generally, there are differences between the two types of molds:

Powdery mildew and moldy mold: Everyone who loves gardening knows about cannabis. Here, the leaves look like dust on the shelf, but they have not been wiped for months. This moldy mold suddenly appears and spreads rapidly, especially on cannabis plants that have not yet fully matured. Use a magnifying glass to easily see at every point!

Botrytis cinerea: It sounds like a horse, but it means fungus in cannabis buds and flowers, and its occurrence is mainly related to moisture. The signs are rotten leaves and drooping flowers with no strength, so you must observe them immediately. Then, just cutting will help save the cannabis plant. Grey mold often occurs after heavy rain.

How does cannabis mold?

There are many reasons, and we do not need to understand the molecular level in depth. For example, mildew due to moisture, such as after a downpour. Wind and ventilation when growing cannabis indoors can also play a role. Well, it depends a lot on the temperature, and ultimately on the actual health of the plant. Some cannabis growers do not fertilize at all or just fertilize again, forget to water, and leave no spots for a long time, all of which can cause mold very quickly and reliably.

How to avoid mold when growing cannabis?

First, a distinction must be made between indoor growth (so-called indoor growth) and outdoor (hemp growers call it outdoor). Logical and logical naming methods can only cope with different loads of mold and mildew according to their respective farming methods.

Indoor cultivation of cannabis to control mold

Here, temperature control is essential. Fans, air conditioners, aerators, and deaerators-no matter what is in the modern room, it should also be used when hemp gets thicker! Keep humidity controlled and temperature constant. Give plants enough space to spread and trim their leaves like flowers, so that there is enough air between the plants.

Water the cannabis adequately, but don’t overdo it, but also consider that fertilizers-molds have practically no livelihoods.

Increase mold control of cannabis outdoors

Outside, we can barely control the climate and temperature, so the focus is on enough space to grow, trim, water, and fertilize. When choosing a planting area, make sure that the wind is sufficiently ventilated and keep the spots at a certain distance from each other. Pruning also helps the lower part of the cannabis plant, allowing the air to repeatedly cool and spread, which is very beneficial to the cannabis family. It also makes sense to shake the plants after heavy rain, so that the water can flow out, and you can also see if the buds are broken or damaged somewhere-such cracks and injuries in cannabis are usually infested entry mold spores.
